WHAT IS YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY (YLA)? YLA is an introduction to learning leadership skills for youth with disabilities. The training consists of five 2-hour sessions. Topics include leadership, goal-setting, self-determination, civic engagement, and networking and mentoring. YLA is hosted by Access 2 Independence of the Eastern Iowa Corridor, ASK Resource Center, Iowa Development of Human Rights, Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council, and Iowa's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). And IT'S FREE!
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND? YLA is for students ages 14-21. Each session will consist of 8-12 students from Iowa communities. After the interview process, selected students will be assigned to the AM or PM session. (Attempts will be made to honor specific requests.)
